3 Things To Ask Yourself Before Creating Content
Dec 20, 2021Consistently showing up on social media can take a lot of energy out of our already busy lives. Even more so, creating consistent content that’s relatable and applicable to your audience can seem daunting.
TRUST ME, I'VE BEEN THERE. BUT I'M ABOUT TO LET YOU IN ON A LITTLE SECRET.
When you create content that is aligned with your brand and your message, it feels good, and it resonates with your audience, thus cultivating an empowered community.
But when you’re simply pushing out content to push out content, it doesn’t seem to engage an audience as authentically. That’s why it’s important to ask yourself these three questions before you begin creating content.
1. WHO ARE YOU SPEAKING TO? IDENTIFYING YOUR NICHE.
Therapist, coaches, healers, aren’t unique to instagram. But YOU are. When you’re speaking to everyone, you’re speaking to no one. When you are able to align with your mission that motivates and inspires you to be in this field, you are able to identify the community that is your audience. When your content is clear and directed towards someone, they will feel seen and validated. It comes down to identifying your niche according to your unique voice! What are you energized by? What population are you committed to serving?
2. WHAT ARE YOUR CONTENT PILLARS? IDENTIFYING YOUR SPECIALITY.
By identifying your content pillars, you are able to keep consistent. In considering who you are talking to, you can narrow down topics that are applicable to these individuals. By clarifying a few topics you consistently touch upon, you are also able to stay more organized. This will help the people who are your people, stay! After all, you can’t be a healer that specializes in everything. Dedicate yourself to your niche.
3. WHAT WILL YOU SAY? IDENTIFYING YOUR VOICE.
Content doesn’t just end at the graphic, don’t forget the impact of a caption! So, what is your message? When thinking about content in general, it’s so important to consider what you want your audience to take away from the message. Are you sharing to inspire, educate, entertain, solve a problem, make someone think, or make someone smile? Once you identify which category each of your posts falls into, you'll be able to generate a message that is aligned with your voice and purpose. This is when your audience will grow authentically, and you’ll be sure to contribute to their personal growth in a big way!
